I have eclectic tastes, and period shows are included in that. This is a list of period shows I've enjoyed and can recommend watching. Most are period dramas, some have humor, many have romance. (I love a good romance!) I also tend to watch well-done...
It's probably the Holy Grail of period romance. It has a feel good plot line, with loveable characters, real problems, and witty banter.

If you're into Regency romance, this is a great spin, reimagined by the creator of Grey's Anatomy.

I know there's been updated movies but this my favorite version.
Pride and Prejudice BBC Version
Super sexy, deadly, and court intrigue. This show follows the life and wives of King Henry the 8th.

Absolute bloody goodness. Lagertha is my girl! This is a Viking Saga that follows Ragnar and his family.
Vikings
The Crown, dramatizes the life of Queen Elizabeth II and her family. My favorite is the first two seasons.

I enjoyed this TV show about Queen Victoria. I thought Jenna Coleman did a stand-out job.

A twisty, turny, Rome filled with motives, sex and blood.

Versailles follows King Louis XIV in his court and personal life.

I loved this! It's about the first African American millionair, C.J. Walker, and an excellent family drama.
Self Made
I wish this show had been renewed. This was a wonderful Sapphic love story set in Industrial times, England.
Gentleman Jack
There is an element of fantasy, a kidnapped time traveling doctor that ends up in Goryeo period Korea, and falls in love with the royal guard who kidnapped her. I personally loved it.
The Great Doctor
This is definitely more of a rom-com in a historical setting. The prince is a romance novelist, and the female lead landed a role in the palace as a historian, where they interact. Great laughs and great chemistry!
