Trekking poles come in handy if you roll your ankles or need extra support. Using them during snow season in the mountains helps keep your butt off the ground
Hiking is hard enough, but if you really want to challenge yourself, get a weighted vest. I personally prefer ankle weights (linked below), But this will increase your hike intensity.

So im trying to reduce polyester in my wardrobe, so for hikes (outside of winter) I wear cotton leggings (95/5 Spandex), yes from Walmart. Have a couple pairs, they don’t cost much.

For my fellow fallers who get cuts scrapes, bruises on the trail always have first aid kit. Alcohol prep, bandaid, antiseptic creams, scissors, triangle bandage (I used to be a safety manager 😊) it’s better to be prepared.
