My first attempt used decorative brackets from a craft store. They bowed under six dinner plates. I almost gave up on the whole project before finding brackets that can handle real kitchen weight without looking industrial.

Cheap pine from the hardware store warped within three weeks of holding my spice jars. Lesson learned. These boards stayed straight and actually look like I spent more than I did.

I pulled a shelf straight out of drywall once because I used the wrong anchors. Cereal bowls everywhere, dog freaking out. Never again. These are the anchors and screws that actually grip.

Raw brackets and bare wood looked half-done until I added a few small details. These are the things that took my shelves from construction project to actually styled kitchen.
