I spent weeks comparing vanity lights and most of them looked like they belonged in a dentist's office. These ones made people ask if I redid the whole bathroom.

My bathroom ceiling is barely 8 feet. A hanging pendant was out of the question, so I went the flush mount route and honestly the results surprised me.

Turns out half the reason my bathroom felt depressing was the bulb color temperature. Switching from cool white to warm white was like putting the room through a filter.

After I upgraded my light fixture I realized my mirror was the next weak link. A backlit mirror took things from ‘nice bathroom’ to ‘wait, did you renovate?’ territory.

Nobody told me that a five-dollar dimmer switch would make more difference than the fixture itself. Being able to control brightness turned my bathroom into two different rooms depending on the time of day.

The overhead light is only half the story. Adding a small accent light or motion-sensor night light made my bathroom functional at 3 AM without waking up my whole household.

Little details like the switch plate, the cord covers, and the mounting hardware made the difference between ‘DIY project’ and ‘looks like it was always there.’ Don't skip these.
