I lined up six stained white tees and washed each with a different detergent. Some of these budget bottles pulled out coffee and tomato sauce stains that my $0.50-per-pod brand couldn't touch.

Before finding these, my stain removal strategy was ‘scrub with dish soap and pray.’ Now I have a real system and I've saved at least a dozen shirts from the donation pile.

Regular detergent handles regular dirt. But when you're dealing with mildew towels, smoke smell, or a week of daycare clothes crammed in a bag, you need backup.

Getting stains out is half the battle. The other half is keeping clothes from pilling, fading, and falling apart after 20 washes. These paid for themselves by extending the life of stuff I actually like wearing.

No product works well if your process is a mess. These tools cut my laundry time by about a third, and a couple of them solved problems I didn't even realize I had.
