My windows used to scream ‘we tried’ — now they scream, period. These silhouettes took five minutes to stick on and had a delivery driver refuse to come to my door.

Flat overhead lighting was killing every scare attempt. Swapping to colored and flickering LEDs behind my displays was the single biggest upgrade I made.

Flat decorations only go so far. When I added dimension with hanging pieces that actually moved in the draft, that's when people started filming my house.

Started with dollar store clings that peeled off in two days. These actually stayed put through rain, and a few of them had me doing a double-take in my own house at 2am.

Static displays are fine but the moment something moves, people lose it. Adding one or two motion-activated pieces turned my window from decoration to full-on experience.

Lighting and silhouettes were good, but adding fog rolling across the windowsill made everything look ten times more real. This was the layer I was missing for two years.

Realized my display was silent and that killed the mood. Adding sound — even quiet, muffled through a window — made people stop and actually feel uneasy instead of just glancing.

Dressing the window frame itself made everything inside look more intentional. Went from random stuff in a window to a framed scene that looked like a portal into something terrible.

The area right around the window matters just as much as what's inside it. Adding a few pieces to the sill and surrounding wall tied everything together and sold the whole illusion.
