Check out all of the books I bought to refresh school library's Halloween Section!
I love Jon Klassen picture books and was so excited to find this little chapter books for my 2-3 graders who are “too big” for the Easy Reader/Picture books. My sons loved the story. Creepy, but not scary and has a happy ending.
The Skull: A Tyrolean Folktale
This is the CUTEST ghost story. My sons loved it last year (6 & 8) and I know that my little library lovers are going to flock to it when it gets put out next week.
The Little Ghost Who Was a Quilt
They Crayons Series is familiar and well loved, so I'm excited to add their Halloween story to our little library.
The Crayons Trick or Treat
The Food Series is another beloved set in our library, especially the story of the Bad Seed. I can't wait for the littles to see the Halloween Story on the shelves!
The Good, the Bad, and the Spooky
Similar to the Food Series and Crayons, our little girls love the Pinkalicious series! I will say, I remove all of the stickers/posters/extras from these little Halloween books so there's no fighting or destruction. I gift these to our Kindergarten t...
Pinkalicious: Pink or Treat!
Such a silly little story about a skeleton that keeps falling apart! Perfect for littles who want to participate in Halloween vibes without being scared.
Bonaparte Falls Apart
This is a BEAUTIFUL book. Our big kids are going to be OBSESSED with it and I cannot wait for it to hit the shelves next week.
Hocus Pocus: The Illustrated Novelization
My FAVORITE read-aloud book ever. It has such a lovely rhyming structure, fun words, silly and sweet storyline. It's an oldie but a goodie.
Room on the Broom
Short stories from around the world about ghost, ghouls, monsters, and tricksters. The book feels amazing in your hands and the illustrations are gorgeous. The stories are easy to read and so much fun.
A World Full of Spooky Stories: 50 Tales
I absolutely love the way Spanish words are woven throughout the story. My kids love this book at Halloween time and I am so excited to add it to our school library this season.
Los Gatos Black on Halloween
Who doesn't love a Pete the Cat book? This is a great little addition to our library. One warning though - it is a flip the flap book, so be prepared to have to replace it at the end of the season.
Pete the Cat: Trick or Pete
This is a great little Branches book for my early chapter kiddos. A fun way to introduce the idea that you don't have to stick to picture books for Halloween fun!
The Haunted Library #1
N*Sync's Lance Bass has written a kids' Halloween Book! The pictures and writing are really engaging, but I agree with reviews who think it might be a bit creepy for younger readers. I would probably say 1st grade and up.
Trick or Treat on Scary Street
A grumpy old tree in a neighborhood full of kids? This is such a fun and unique Halloween story!
The Halloween Tree
This is a classic in our library that the kids love every year. I was so happy that it was still available to repurchase, our copies are well-loved.
Froggy's Halloween
Themed I Spy Books are a staple in our library. Not all of our students are excited about checking out picture or chapter books – but they'll read the lists and analyze the pictures to solve the riddles and I think that's amazing too.
I Spy Spooky Night: A Book of Picture Riddles
I'm SURE you've heard of Creepy Underwear, but if not this is your sign. I can't help but love reading this story aloud to our little friends, their giggles are infectious.
Creepy Pair of Underwear!
My son loves National Geographic fact books. I was so excited to see this Halloween version available for all of my little fact loving kiddos out there who still want to check out a “Halloween” book. I can't wait for them to educate me about all of t...
