Science
One of my favorite science museums in SF! Located in Golden Gate Park. Definitely check out their Nightlife 21+ events with drinking and live music.
California Academy of Sciences
This place is pretty fun, my work took us here for their night time event where they serve alcohol and it’s adults only. Lots of cool science features that will entertain anyone. Located near-ish the ferry building.
Exploratorium
More of a kid friendly museum. They offer hands on science and nature exhibits. This is also where monthly SF Mycological Society meetings are held most of the year.
Randall Museum
The most ‘grammable museum! They also do Smash It where you can release stress and break some plates!
Museum of 3D Illusions
Art
Fun experience! Open studios are only 1 weekend a year so plan accordingly! Lots of weird studios to explore.
Hunters Point Shipyard Artists | April 26 & 27 2025
Recently relocated! Pretty cool museum with a variety of contemporary craft and design work. Located in Dogpatch.
Museum of Craft and Design
One of the most popular galleries in the city. Definitely check out the view from the tower!
de Young Museum
Love to pop in here whenever I’m walking around the Mission. I really enjoyed their recent project on the topic of waste; upcycling waste into art!
the ANNEX - Drawing Room SF
A great art space with a bar! Home base of the monthly downtown first Thursdays block party.
111 Minna Gallery (& Event Space)
FREE! Really cool space. Love that they value prioritization of individuals over institutions.
Institute of Contemporary Art San Francisco
There have been some cool art galleries hosted here!
Asian Art Museum
Awesome art museum located downtown. Free entry for SF residents every first Thursday (during the downtown first Thursdays block party)!
SF Museum of Modern Art
Non-profit gallery space for exhibition opportunities to emerging and mid-career artists.
Root Division
Must have reservations! Multifaceted immersive experience.
The Gregangelo Museum
More of a historical museum but you’ll find some art here!
GLBT Historical Society
Beautiful space right in the heart of downtown. Free during downtown first Thursdays!
