Even though it’s almost every park in SF, check out my favorite parks to enjoy in the city. I usually use my parks to soak in some sun, but we have some hefty spaces with good trails as well.

SF voted to close down Great Hwy to create a 2 mile long park on the Pacific! Lots of cool art and sculptures. Glad I was able to get a beach spot on this list.
*New Park* Sunset Dunes | Ocean Beach
One of my favorite parks in SF! Second largest to GG park. There’s a lot to offer here, great views, trails, and lots of recreational activities. Home to the Jerry Garcia Amphitheater where they host Jerry Day in the summer.
John McLaren Park
Home of the painted ladies. One of the most iconic SF parks with great views. There’s usually a coffee bar on site.
Alamo Square
You can spend a whole day at this park. Home of the Academy of Sciences, De Young Museum, and Botanical Gardens. Lots of good eats and shopping nearby as well. I love to post up near the Conservatory of Flowers too.
Golden Gate Park
Amazing views of the Financial District and Bay Bridge. Not a flat park so really just a good spot to chill on a bench and soak it all in. Up on a hill so not exactly walking friendly, but don’t miss out if you’re in the area. Lots to do nearby.
Ina Coolbirth Park
A true gem of a spot. Such a fun mix of culture here. Never a dull moment, no explanation needed hehe. Amazing views of downtown.
Mission Dolores Park
Really awesome spot right on the bay. Lots of trails and good views.
Heron's Head Park
Right behind Ghirardelli Square! Sweet views of the bay. Definitely check out the tire swing.
Francisco Park
Historic, the first urban park in California. Lots of recreational activities. I’m gonna try Stand Up Paddleboard here sometime.
Candlestick Point State Recreation Area
SF’s newest park! Continued renovations still going on in phase 3. Awesome views and trails. Big emphasis on community resilience with this one. Find lots of family friendly activities here.
India Basin Waterfront Park
Really cool deep urban park, if you’re ever downtown it’s worth a stop. It’s right outside the Metreon AMC theatre so I like to stroll thru when I’m there.
Yerba Buena Gardens
Top of the hill has some good views of the city and neighborhood.
Buena Vista Park
Great sunsets here when the fog or clouds aren’t around. Good party here for Fleet Week.
Fort Mason
Right by the ocean! Good spot for lake activities.
Lake Merced
Simple park with lots of trails and recreational activities.
