I'm using the word “hidden” loosely here, however, these are mandatory, must trys when on O'ahu. Born and raised in Hawai'i, I've compiled this list for you to expand your horizons from my stomping grounds. I firmly stand by the fact you could order ANYTHING at any of these places, and be happy. Enjoy! Disclaimer: You may gain 10 lbs on your trip. So sorry, so worth it.

There's no debating this is the best meat jhun and mac salad you'll have in your life. PERIOD.
Soon's Kal Bi Drive In
After a long beach day, hit Storto's to replenish. Yes, get a full. You'll be shocked you can finish it. No matter what, get the papaya seed dressing and sprouts. Don't forget to bring cash, as it is all they will accept.
Storto's Deli & Sandwich Shop
Go early for the best selection. Purchase a couple bentos before you head to the beach and thank me later.
Tanioka's
A chain staple. Known for their chili (so many school fundraisers) they also have a great little breakfast menu, too.
Zippy's
LEGIT Hawaiian food. The chicken long rice, laulau, and kalua pig are my go to.
Helena's
You want it? They got it. Try something weird or ask for a recommendation. Can't go wrong here.
Rainbow Drive-In
Mexican restaurant on North Shore? It might be weird, but it's not. It's a staple. Full disclaimer: some say it's overrated, I'm not one of those people but I also may be biased. I'll take accountability there!
Cholo's
You may need to be taken out in a wheel barrow. In the best way, of course. I LOVE the fried oyster curry. OMG.
CURRY HOUSE COCO ICHIBANYA
If you're short on time, you can stop here. They are EVERYWHERE. They have branched out to the mainland but it's nowhere near the one's on the islands (sorry not sorry). I also grew up on L&L drive inn so of course, I am partial.
L & L Drive-Inn
Probably the most “fancy” spot on this list. Amazing Japanese food nestled in an outdoor shopping center. If you've got a big group, try the boats. Yes, ACTUAL boats of deliciousness. If you are having a party, they also have a really nice back room.
Restaurant Kunio
Nothing to say here besides, you are VERY welcome. Treat yo self!
Ted's Bakery
Located all over the island as a chain grocery store, this is the most reliable spot for a quick pound of any poke your heart desires. As soon as I get off the plane, I am headed to Foodland.
Foodland Hawaii
Best poke on the island and some great filipino dishes to try!
Waialua General Store
If you're craving an insane breakfast or ALL the sweets, here is your spot.
Liliha Bakery
I mean this with no disrespect: Like Panda Express but the legit version. This is who Panda Express strives to be. Don't miss out on the rice cake dessert or manapua.
Chun Wah Kam Noodle Factory
Best malasaas on the island. There's even one next to Chun Wah Kam.
