Did you know Australia has its own varieties of pumpkin? It's only recently that we have begun to import American pumpkins to make Jack-O-Lanturns. My early attempts to make a Jack-O-Lanturn from the Australian varieties were a dismal failure.

Australian beef is mostly grass-fed. For an authentic Australian taste, try to find grass-fed meat cuts.

Autumn is when I start to cook roast lamb again.  In summer, the oven can make the kitchen too hot. Australian lamb is all grass fed when cooked like this it tastes delicious.  I insert garlic cloves into the meat for added flavour, and pre-cook my potatoes in the microwave for a few minutes which helps them come out with extra crunchy skins.

This has been a family favourite for years. A good piece of corned silverside (not to be confused with meat from a tin) almost falls apart in your mouth. Even my fussy eaters loved it. This recipe with the vegetables cooked in with the meat is the...

This Pumpkin Soup is super easy to make and easy to add to, to make it your own. We regularly add carrots which give it a brighter orange colour and slightly sweeter taste. Matt Preston's Australian version adds apple and is garnished with hazelnuts...

Sweet, warm and delicious. My work colleague used to always bring in sticky date pudding for morning tea and everyone loved it.  This recipe is almost identical to his. Dates are in season in Autumn so use fresh ones if you can find them or rehydrate before cooking. And dates are healthy right?

Delicious, chocolatey warmth. Unlike a lot self-saucing receipes this one isn't cooked in a water bath, so it's great for young cooks. I double the water in this recipe so it makes more sauce. Serve straight from the oven with ice-cream or yoghurt.

A healthier dessert alternative. You can experiment with different fruits.  We like apple and berry, or pear and apricots.  I love this recipe made with fruits fresh from the garden, but it also works with frozen and tinned fruits.

This is the classic recipe. Mix it up by changing the fruit, adding jam (jelly) or honey to the bread, changing the type of sugar or bread. I like dried apricots with apricot jam on multigrain bread with raw sugar. We recently had friends who did...

No Australian list of pumpkin recipes would be complete without Pumpkin scones.  Made famous by our Queensland Premier's wife, this recipe is delicious and nutritious. We serve ours hot with butter or, for a healthier alternative, reduced fat cottage cheese.

Best fresh while the bun is still warm and the icing hasn't had time to set. Perfect with a hot chocolate and an open fire. I am yet to find out what they taste like the next day because there are never any left.

My Nan made the most amazing sponge cakes in a wood fired oven. They were so soft and fluffy - twice the height of this picture. I could never repeat her feats with the sponge without using a "never-fail" sponge recipe similar to this one.
