I went on a day trip to NOLA and wrote a review for each place I ate at. I also added a snippet of places I just got drinks from but I honestly didn’t drink much on this trip. This post may contain affiliate links.

Food + Drinks
NOLA is probably one of the best food cities in the United States. The food here played a big part and me and my siblings wanting to do this trip. Here is everywhere I ate and drank and what I thought about each place.
The praline beignets were such a tasty sweet treat. I read some people said they were too sweet but I honestly thought they were just right and I love how the pralines added some substance to the beignets as I’m not a huge beignet fan
Loretta's Authentic Pralines - French Market
This place is good I would go back if i came to NOLA often but its not amazing. I would want to explore other breakfast spots before going back.
I got the sausage and biscuits which I enjoyed but it just wasn’t anything special.
Ruby Slipper
The beignets were big but after eating one beignet I didn’t want anymore. They weren’t amazing and made me miss the praline beignets from Loretta’s. At Loretta’s I could easily finish my order of 3 vs at cafe beignet it was hard for me to finish 1
Cafe Beignet, Bourbon Street
We went here because it was super close to our hotel. The customer service isn’t the greatest but it’ll get the job done. They food was pretty good. I got the taste of the bayou with gumbo jambalaya and red beans and rice. I enjoyed the red beans and...
Blue Bayou Restaurant & Oyster Bar
I honestly didn’t really enjoy the daiquiri that I got. I think it’s because there was everclear in one of the flavors and I don’t think I like the taste of everclear
Voodoo Chicken & Daiquiris
I would recommend coming here so that you can form your own opinion. I personally think this is just an average beignet and didn’t think it was anything spectacular. I do still love Loretta’s praline beignets but these arent bad.
Cafe Du Monde
I went here for breakfast and got the Cajun omelette which I really enjoyed. This is an average restaurant nothing spectacular but very close to the hotel I stayed at and the customer service was amazing!

Transportation, Must See Spots, and Hotel Stay
Here you will find everything not related to food and drinks about my trip. I will share where I stayed, which tourist spots I visited and how I got around New Orleans.

We were able to catch the 202 bus from MSY to New Orleans Public Library which was a 10 min walk from Bourbon Street
Maps & Transportation
7/10 - the room was clean, and the front desk was accommodating with holding our bags before check in and letting us check in at 1 pm vs 4pm. The location is great super walkable and close to bourbon street. We had a canal facing room which also wasn...
Crowne Plaza New Orleans French Qtr - Astor - IHG
This is such a beautiful spot to just walk around and window shop the vendors or maybe even buy something you might like!
French Market
If you wanna have a good time go to bourbon street. During the day time it’s not too crazy and can be ok to pass through with kids but it’s mostly only bars on bourbon street with a 21+ requirement to enter.
Visit Bourbon Street - New Orleans, Louisiana
Places I Wish I Went
Unfortunately I was only in NOLA for a day, so there was so much I didn’t get to see. If I were to have stayed in NOLA longer, these places would’ve been at the top of my list.
I saw so many recommendations for this place but I just didn’t have time to try it. If it were closer to my hotel I would’ve went prior to heading back to the airport but it was a little too far for me to try it before checking out and heading to the...
Biscuits & Buns
I honestly don’t know how I went to NOLA and didn’t check out Frenchman Street. I was so tired on Saturday, and had already walked 15,000 steps before check in that I just didn’t have it in me to check out Frenchman Street but I wish I did.
Visit Frenchmen Street - New Orleans, Louisiana
I really wish I went on a swamp tour during this trip but it just didn’t fit in my itinerary for this trip. I will definitely be doing a swamp tour the next time I visit. I read that the swamp shown on the tour is the swamp that was inspired by The P...
New Orleans Swamp Tours - Cajun Encounters
I almost did a ghost tour which I feel like would’ve been soo much fun but after a long day of travel I just didn’t feel like doing a walking tour and I felt like a bus tour wouldn’t have been as fun.
French Quarter Phantoms - Famous New Orleans Walking Tours
I haven’t been to an aquarium in so long so when I passed the aquarium on the way to the French market I was beyond intrigued and was so tempted to go inside.
