You are going to need tomatillo, please don’t get them in a can. Get them fresh and peel, also wash them. Get3-8 depending on how many people are eating. If 3 people are eating get 3tomatillos.

I did say its for 3 people, so get 1 poblano pepper (get more if more people are eating ofc). This is to add coloring ;).

If you can handle spice get serranos. I used 2 which made it a bit spicy (tolerable to those who cant eat spicy). Serranos are quite spicy so just be careful.

If you can’t handle spicy food use jalapeño instead. ( DO NOT MIX BOTH SERRANO AND JALAPEÑO, YOU WILL MESS UP THE RECIPE AND MAKE IT SPICY; TO NOT EAT.) Get 4 jalapeños since they aren’t so spicy. (AGAIN PICK ONE OR THE OTHER.)

You can use any chicken really, but this is the juiciest! Breast are quite dry if you ask me.

You will need oregano for taste, it gives it a delicious taste, if you don’t like oregano you can leave it out. (It wont taste the same though)

Salt, whatever salt you have works. Unless you want to follow my recipe at a tee. This is to enrich the broth flavor, you will add it directly to the pozole (I didnt add any salt to the green salsa).

Add minced garlic to the stuff you are going to blend. Stuff that will be blended: (tomatillo, poblano, choice of pepper, onion, some minced garlic, oregano, cilantro, and a cup of chicken broth)

Get 1/4 of onion or add to your liking. This will be blended with all the other vegetables. (Check minced garlic part, its to see whats getting blended).

White hominy ( maíz blanco). Its the kernel for the pozole it adds a delicious touch and gives it some texture apart from all the meats.

You will need a pan like this/similar to this. Its to fry the bacon, sausage, shredded chicken, and green salsa. You fry the sauce after you have fried all the meats first.

Any pot like this works to boil the chicken in. I used a small one because i only cooked like 3pcs of chckn, since I wasn’t making a big batch of pozole. Obviously use a medium pot if there is more people.

Get a glass mixing bowl to pull apart your chicken and shred it. I use a glass bowl because it makes it easier for me and it keeps the meat tender from the steam.

Tongs to help pull apart the chicken when its fresh out the pot. I like to shred it when its hot so its easier, i do use my hands and tongs or sometimes a fork. You can do it however you prefer or your go to method.
