If you are looking for quality, clean books for your kids, here's some more books to check out! Some of these are timeless classics. Others are new with a nostalgic feel. I hope you find some inspiration in this list!
A book about an orphan girl finding a new life in the New England States.
Anne of Green Gables - Books
This is another classic that my kids love. This abridged version is much easier to read and understand. For older kids that can work through older English, I also recommend the original.
The Swiss Family Robinson (Abridged)
A heart-wrenching tale of the damage done by explorers taking advantage of native people.
Island of the Blue Dolphins
A story about some children who receive a mail-order bride as a mom and how they learn to connect and get to know each other.
Sarah, Plain and Tall: A Newbery Winner
The story of a book trying to protect a dog.
Shiloh
A book about a boy with his hunting dogs. It's one of those books that doesn't sugarcoat the hard things that happen.
Where the Red Fern Grows by Wilson Rawls
While the title sounds creepy and weird, it's actually a good story about not believing the rumors and gossip about other people.
The Witch of Blackbird Pond: Newbery Award Winner
Many hilarious and lessons teaching stories. There are more books to this series but this is the first one.
Stories from Grandma's Attic by Arleta Richardson
A hilarious book that includes all kinds of adventures! My young kids enjoyed this one too!
Homer Price by Robert McCloskey (Mar 1982)
Such a sweetly written book that teaches on making friends with people who are different then you. It has a lot of pictures- one on each page to help keep your newer readers engaged. It has a very nostalgic feel to it.
A New Friend (The Adventures of Sophie Mouse)
