A list of all the books that I’ve really loved reading, and with plots that I can never forget!
My sister and I have been at odds over which novel is better: Dracula, or Frankenstein? I am a hardcore Frankenstein STAN.
Frankenstein
A Pride and Prejudice retelling set in Pakistan! I loved reading this so much, and it was such an easy read for me!
Unmarriageable: A Novel
This was a novel I could not put down. I loved that this was structured as one side to a conversation between two people, it made it that more emphatic!
The Reluctant Fundamentalist
Definitely my favourite Sally Rooney novel that I’ve read so far, nothing compares to this!
Normal People
Look up unreliable narrator in the dictionary and you will see Rob 😂
High Fidelity (novel)
I first read Wide Sargasso Sea when I chose it as my English independent coursework. It’s an incredible book and gives voice to a character in Jane Eyre who was relegated to the sidelines of the story
Wide Sargasso Sea
I was not prepared for how much I cried reading this book, amazing and incredibly powerful!
Mornings in Jenin
This novel is fairly popular and for good reason, Atwood’s writing is incredibly unique.
The Handmaid's Tale: Atwood, Margaret
I can't believe that I'd only read this for the first time recently, because it's such a formative short story that I think everyone should read at least once!
Animal Farm
This is probably my favourite Shakespeare play because it brings back so many memories of my sisters and I acting scenes out at home!
Much Ado About Nothing
I'm a little biased because I also chose this for my English coursework many moons ago. But I think Rossetti's writing is so unique!
Goblin Market and Other Poems
I was lucky enough to watch a stage adaptation of The Kite Runner, and it solidified the book as one of my all-time favourites
The Kite Runner
This is an unusual one for me because I'm not a huge stickler for romance, but I loved how vivid every character felt in the book - even now I can picture all the settings in my head and they're so distinct from the movie!
Me Before You
Okay, this might be a children's story…but it was a brilliant playbook! It brings back such lovely memories of when my sisters and I would read this aloud and all fight to read the part of Bobbie!
The Railway Children
OH MY GOSH the way I love this book even now. It might appear to be a children's novels but the themes and internal politics within the book make it so captivating to read as an adult!
