Our German Shepherd rescue has severe separation anxiety. She can be alone for a few hours at a time now, but we went over a year without leaving her home alone! So suffice to say, we know our way around dog-friendly patios in Des Moines.

My favorite brewery in Des Moines! And the food is creative and delicious. Dogs very welcome. There isn’t much shade so this is a good option in the evening or on a cooler day.

When you need shade: Head to Big Grove. Their outdoor area is huge and they have good food. Expect to see many other fur friends there too!

Dog-friendly and amazing food! Get the chicken bites tossed in creamy buffalo sauce. Thank me later😉

They don’t serve food, but often have a food truck. Live music. Super close to Gray’s lake so you can take your dog on a stroll before or after drinks!

A dive bar along the river. Tons of outdoor seating for you and your dog. Technically they have bar food, but we mostly come here for drinks by the water!
