I love a classic British high tea and have been searching for great options throughout my travels in the States. Ironic how the colonies are now embracing this British aristocratic tradition. I'll continue updating this with regional finds as I try t...

PITTSBURGH: Probably Pittsburgh's “fanciest” high tea in a beautiful room. After trying plenty of options in the Pittsburgh area, this is my top choice for best tea given what you're paying for. Note that reservations are old fashioned where you subm...
Afternoon Tea | The Johnston House
PITTSBURGH: This used to be my favorite afternoon tea place in Pittsburgh but they've since changed their model post-COVID. After visiting in 2024, I have to say it falls short of the old model. Afternoon tea (pre COVID) used to be a designated time ...
The Cafe at the Frick | The Frick Pittsburgh
PITTSBURGH: Pittsburgh's “classic” high tea option. When I last visited a few years ago, I personally didn't think the tea was worth the almost $50 price tag. Reservations are required and there's a slight discount if you're an inn guest. I'll be going again soon to see what (if anything) has changed post-pandemic!
As of May 2024 Wednesday-Sunday: 12pm-4pm; Reservations are limited to 2 Hours Price $45 per person (add $8 for hot chocolate) Additional sandwiches – $2.50 each Additional scones – $3.00 each
High Tea – Inn On Negley
PITTSBURGH: The Omni William Penn hotel is finally bringing back their afternoon tea offering. However, while it used to be offered in the Palm Court, they're now serving it between 2:30 and 4p in The Terrace Room. As of May 2024, afternoon tea is $5... I thought the sandwich options were all delicious, the scones came with real clotted cream, and the desserts were fun. I also appreciated their tea service, which was actually separate pots selected for you based on what part of the tea you were eati... Downsides were that there were only two small scones (likely the smallest of the ones in Pittsburgh I've tried), and I didn't love that we were essentially in a cordoned off part of a hotel lobby where other guests could also congregate.
The Terrace Room
PITTSBURGH: Traditional afternoon tea is offered every 2nd Sunday of the month - call to make a reservation!
Fabled Table
NASHVILLE: High tea in a historical hotel, where suffragist and anti-suffragist factions camped out during Tennessee's votes to ratify the 19th Amendment (Tennessee was the deciding state, and it came down to a single vote, influenced by his mother)....
The Hermitage Hotel
NEW YORK: I went here years ago and loved the dedication to the theme. Is it a classic British tea? Maybe not. Was it very fun and whimsical? You bet.
Alice's Tea Cup, Chapter 2
NEW YORK: I don't know if they still do this, but I had afternoon tea at the Harney and Sons store pre-2020. I don't remember much about the food, but I loved that I could try the various teas they offered and I found a new tea that I really liked (a...

ST. LOUIS: I love finding a good afternoon tea option. They offer both afternoon tea (savory and sweet) as well as high tea (savory only). They also offer cream tea (tea, scones, and cream), but only on weekdays. Uniquely named tea blends make for a ...

CHICAGO: Loved both the ambience of the Drake's Afternoon Tea offering but also the fact that you can request additional small plates of sandwiches! There were some truly delicious offerings and I'm glad I was able to get a second of some of them. We...

HOUSTON: We were in the Woodlands suburb of Houston for a wedding and decided to find an afternoon tea option for Sunday before we flew home. The Tea Kettle was open on Sunday and offered a $35 tea option with sandwiches and scones, so we decided to ...

DENVER: So I'll preface this by saying we didn't actually get tea in the café but instead did takeaway afternoon tea as a fun lunch for my work team. Despite it being delivered in boxes for our team, it was actually very well done and still tasted gr...
Babe's Tea Room
DENVER: I didn't love this tea as much as I hoped I would given the historical nature of the hotel it was located in! For starters, afternoon tea took place right in the middle of the lobby (granted, the lobby seating area, but it still felt a little...
