My favorite hostel in Taipei because of the work area in the lobby. The decor is also cute and there is a rooftop!
Meander Taipei near Ximending (Large Social & Work Area)
Located in Ximen this hotel is so comfortable, and the massive tub is a big selling point – especially for travel in Taipei in winter.
Energy Inn: Creative Hotel with Hot Spring Tubs (one of my favorite stays!)
A good place for budget traveling when you want a private room in Taiwan. Located near metro and shopping.

Very affordable & comfortable rooms in center of Taipei. Plus free breakfast!

My go-to hostel in Tainan. Perfect to get remote work done and very comfortable.

A good hostel for last minute bookings. Cozy but small social space.

Taitung & Dulan (East Coast)
A few cozy spots to stay in Taitung and Dulan that are budget friendly and put together.
Affordable hostel in the city center you can take the bus from the train station and then it's a 6-minute walk from the bus station.
Hostel Who Knows (By Taitung Bus Station)
I loved my stay here so much! 100% recommend to anyone visiting Dulan as you'll feel right at home in Taiwan.
都蘭朋友家 Dulan Friends Hostel: Rooftop & Amazing Hosts by Beach
Popular for backpackers and has surfer/hippie vibes. I do hang out here sometimes :)

The only place in Kaohsiung you need to stay.
I always stay here in Kaohsiung! The hosts are amazing, the price is great, and rooms have desks.

Best places to stay in Yilan, near Taipei.
This hotel is nestled by the mountains (some tubs have green views). Very very cozy.
Ruo Shui Hotspring Hotel: Huge Hot Spring Tub & Workspace
I enjoyed my stay here so much! But it's a bit far from the train station so it's best to stay if you have a scooter or car to get here.
W3 Hostel: Really Cute Hostel in Luodong

Stayed here in 2021 – really affordable and cozy room (some even have little balconies!) Not too far from the train station.

Alishan (in park & area)
If you want to save money and don't care about the sunrise, stay outside of Alishan Park!
Best if you have a car or scooter. Beautiful mountain views and near hiking trails.
Chia Yuen Homestay in Fenqihu (Big rooms and amazing views)
Not crazy nice but the place to stay if you want affordable and in the park to wake up for the sunrise train.
Maria Hotel in Alshan (cheapest in the park)
