Every year, I set a reading goal and part of the goal includes seeking out new books, new perspectives, or new works by favorite authors. This growing list has some of my discoveries both from indie self-published authors and those using more traditi...

Non-Fiction
My top picks for newer works of non-fiction both mainstream and indie authors.
Love Apple or hate them the company made its mark on how we live today. David Pogue has been writing about tech and Apple for as long as I can remember. This book is a trip down memory lane and a reminder of how much has changed.

This was another hard book to read. Not because it was poorly written but because of the subject matter. Topics include SA, violence, and self-harm. This is a powerful story the world needs to hear but I had to read in small chunks.
Nobody's Girl: A Memoir of Surviving Abuse and Fighting for Justice
This is a well-written and well-researched book with a clear premise and some might say bias. A close-up look into the workings of the 47th President of the United States- the gloves are off.
Regime Change: Inside the Imperial Presidency of Donald ...
This barely meets my “2 year” window but I just discovered Carr also wrote non-fiction. Even though I was alive during this event, I was oblivious to what was really happening a world away. Carr is an excellent storyteller and brought a tragic event ...
Targeted: Beirut - Jack Carr
I’ve followed Cory Doctorow’s work for years. Sometimes I agree, sometimes I don’t but his books always leave me thinking. If you’re on the AI fence, it’s worth the time to listen.
The Reverse Centaur's Guide to Life After AI
A quick read and perfect pick me up for those starting their entrepreneurial journey.
Dan Mowinski | AI Consultant & Author
What if healing was not your job? What if allowing the mind time to relax guided the process? I found the book presented a new perspective to a very old challenge.
Healing Isn't Your Job! · KDP Publishing
This is the book I wish I had when I was leading corporate teams. It’s an easy read and doesn’t recycle the same old business advice we’ve been fed for years. Add a female executive turned entrepreneur’s experience and this is a keeper.

New fiction from the latest installments of favorite series to new indie author discoveries.
Have you ever waited a year or more for the next book in a favorite series to release? That was me with the latest Dresden Files installment and while it carried the storyline, there was a bit of disappointment as well. Perhaps, it’s time for Harry t...
Twelve Months (Dresden Files): Butcher, Jim
Cozies
Everyone can use a laugh, perhaps a mini escape, a whodunit, and a quick read. New cozies from indie authors and new installments or series from some of my favorite cozy authors.
I’m not into pickleball but my partner Ken is. When a mutual friend suggested this book my first thought was hmm. However, it’s a cleverly written cozy and an easy read. I’m looking forward to exploring the rest of the series.
Pine Hollow Pickleball Mysteries
As a crocheter, it’s fun to relax with these quick cozies. After a while, you even start to become invested with the characters. Another fun mystery.

Thrillers
High energy, adrenaline rush reads the newest releases by my favorite authors.
If you enjoy thrillers this may be for you but there are heavy topics including SA and violence. The pacing is solid, the characters are well developed but the topic is violent.
We Are All Guilty Here (North Falls, #1) by Karin Slaughter
It’s been a bit since I read a Freida McFadden book and she delivers another thriller. Who really did it?

Audiobooks
Another new book from the Patterson factory. I do find multi-cast books fun to listen to and this one was a perfect summer listen.
