Cozy Fantasy/Scifi - Comforting Reads for When Life is Stressful Enough

Purple Star emoji 16 items
I love fantasy and Scifi, but so much of it gets very heavy. Sometimes I need something lighter, comforting.. especially when life and the news begin to feel like too much. These are books I've read that gave me cozy, comforting vibes.

Sprayed edges! And a sassy sentient spider plant! This book starts a little intense, but very quickly becomes very cute and cozy.

One of my favorites! So cute and cozy. Explores a lot of concepts of home and found family. I'm so excited for her next book coming out 7/15/25.

On KU. This novela is slow and meandering. Don't come here for a big plot. But it is a cute, cozy, existential exploration of a lost human and re-emerging robot finding their way. One of my favorite books!
A Psalm for the Wild-Built: Monk & Robot 1

On KU. The second Monk and Robot book! (A Psalm for the Wild Built is book one) Just as good as the first! But just as slow and meandering. Don't come into this expecting fast paced at all. It is meant to be sat with.
A Prayer for the Crown-Shy

I LOVED this and am really wondering why I haven't read her other books yet! Regency fantasy, which I don't read a lot of, but it hit the spot.

Feisty sourdough starter.. what more could you want? This is middle grade! It has some heavier themes, but is suitable for kids. I read it at 28 and still enjoyed it, but don't pick this up if you can't handle a kids book. Definitely a unique concept...
A Wizard's Guide to Defensive Baking

On KU. Possibly not cozy? I'm on the fence on if this counts as cozy or not. I've seen other people describe it that way, and I found it funny and relatable in a possibly cozy way. But I LOOOOOVE this book and will add it to as many lists as I reason...
All Systems Red: The Murderbot Diaries 1

On KU. Not my favorite, but decent and has helpful context for book two which was great!
The Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet

On KU. Book 2, and I personally thought this was better than book 1. Slow, more an introspective look at identity and fitting in.
