What to Wear!

Australia has a lot of sun!  So many of the suggestions in what to wear are related to the sun, heat, and bugs!  Come prepared and you will have a more pleasant experience and not go home as red as a tomato!

This is my other favorite sunscreen, recommended by my dermatologist as well.  I love the mineral face sunscreen with tint as I find mineral sunscreen can leave a white residue on the body if not rubbed in well.  Well I love this sunscreen because of the tint and I use this on my face, traveling or not!

There are two different sunscreens that I love and this is one of them.  I actually like the scented versions but I buy mineral sunscreens.

You will need Sunnies as the Aussies say.  Once I had Maui Jim sunglasses, I can't use any others.  I love my Maui Jims and I often travel with two pairs.  They are by far the best and worth the investment.

Depending on where you travel in Australia you may experience the classic mosquito! We can’t seem to escape them. We love these patches for those bites. We have tried other brands but this is our favorite! And they are an Australian company to boot!

We love these natural mosquito patches. We pack them everywhere we go and they are just placed on the clothes. Kids think they are fun. I love how light and easy they are to pack. And they are an Australian company.

Out in the frontier you will experience mosquitos. We prefer a more natural approach and these Nat Pat stickers are great. We pack them everywhere. They are so light weight and take no space at all. We recommend the kids and the adult versions!

I use to run tours out west and wore sun protective clothing regularly. Then I met my Aussie husband and come to realize it’s a staple in an Aussie wardrobe. I’m hooked on Eddie Bauer because of their quality and comfort. I personally have many diffe...

If it’s not Eddie Bauer then it’s Columbia for our UV protection clothing for us. It’s important I have protection from the hot sun and UV rays. It’s also nice to have light shirt when going in and out if hot weather into air conditioning.

I suggest a back pack or a sling bag. It kind of depends on preference. My husband normally carries the backpack with all the kids stuff. I like to have w smaller wing type bag that I can access my stuff easily. Australia is a pretty safe place over...

You will definitely need a sun hat when traveling to Australia.  The sun is intense and you will experience higher UV levels here. So head covering is important along with that sunscreen.  These hats are particularly nice when doing lots of walking and at the beach. I love Eddie Bauer and all their outdoor wear!

Ok, this is not the most fashionable I get it, but versatile.  Trust me, when you are at the beach and in the hot sun, you will wish you had something protecting your neck and you won't care how you look!

Ok, don't get freaked out that you need this everywhere, but honestly, if you go to the interior of Australia and you visit Uluru, you will want to have a net to keep the flies from bothering you when site seeing or hiking.  I carried one of these on tour with me for each time I went there. You never know how bad they might be and if they are bad during the day at the rock, well you will wish you had one of these shoved away in your bag!

Accessories

A few items that are easy to forget but important to have when traveling to a foreign country!

I think its handy to travel with a voltage adapter as well as general adapters.  For many products they only need an adapter as they can handle different volts.  But for other electronics you will want a converter. I did not do this the first time I went to Australia as I was so use to my electronics handling both, but then I ruined my electric toothbrush!  When traveling with hairdryers, curling irons, some cameras and laptops, etc, you will want a voltage converter.

Do not forget your adapters.  I like the ones where I can plug lots of things in at one location.

RIFD Passport cover with air tag holder.  I have been lucky enough to not lose a passport but its important to keep your passport safe with the RIFD protection and then the added benefit of putting an air tag in!  I love holders that have extra little pockets for a few added things as well.

This is the actual wallet I own and love.  I have had a few different ones over the years.  I love how my cards RFID protected and I have a separate area for coins.
APHISON RFID Leather Credit Card Holder Wallet

This is the other more condensed RFID blocking wallet.  This one is a little nicer for travel if you don't intend on carrying so many cards.  I also loved having one with the ability to have my photo ID in a pocket on the outside but did not have the separate coin area. This was my actual wallet before moving to the larger one I suggest.

I have tried many headphone, ear buds, ear plugs, etc. I always come back to Bose. They are pricey but worth every penny. I feel the over the head ones stay on better but you can get the little ear bud ones as well which are nice all around.
