Journey to Positano, Italy — Everything you need to know.”
Positano is a cliffside resort town on Italy's Amalfi Coast, renowned for its pastel-colored buildings cascading toward the Tyrrhenian Sea. Originally a prominent medieval port and a quiet fishing village, it became an upscale international tourist destination following widespread acclaim in the 1950s. I find it very charming and an enjoyable place to visit. And remember, because of where it is situated, be sure to take comfortable flat shoes. Some buses will take you up and down the hill, but you will still find yourself going up and down steps as you walk around town. There is a beautiful church, but keep in mind that they take their religious beliefs seriously. If you are a woman, you cannot enter without a veil on your head. Be sure to carry a scarf with you. It is very fashionable to wear a silky scarf around your neck, around your hat, or even tied to your purse. Also, they are famous for the red coral that is found in their waters. It is reasonably priced while you are there, but it's very hard to find and very pricey once you leave there. The beach is beautiful, but it is made up of rocks, not sand. So be sure to wear sandals or shoes as you walk along the beach. The Amalfi Coast is known as the Italian Riviera, and the vacation spot of the rich and famous. It is very common to see huge yachts moored on the seaside. As we sat there enjoying the fresh seafood, I found it enjoyable to watch the rich and famous come to shore. They dressed casually, but with good, expensive taste. The Spanish Girl loves to people-watch.
