I visited Portugal in May, and it's a charming place.  I'd recommend going in April, May, September, or October for milder weather and fewer crowds. Portugal is budget-friendly; we used Uber everywhere in Porto and Lisbon, which was cheaper than taking taxis. Some taxis only take cash, so be sure to chec...

We took a free walking tour and it was excellent. Porto isn't very large, so we were able to cover a lot during this tour. Our group was quite large but the best part was that the tour itself was free; you just needed to tip the guide. Fair warning: ...

We stumbled upon this restaurant, and they were kind enough to accommodate us without a reservation, as long as we could finish our meal within 1.5 hours. We were jokingly speculating that we'd likely be done in half that time. The restaurant turned ...

Must not miss food market. Plenty of food to eat here but standing only and it can get very crowded. It is a good place to buy your sonvenir here too. I was kicking myself that I did not buy puri puri (pepper) there. I did not see any in Lisbon.  Try the empanar place close to the entrance on the right. Great place to have lunch. Close at 8pm everyday except Saturday, it closes at 6pm. Sunday is closed.

We stayed at this apartment hotel. it's in the best location. It is smack in the middle of the historic center of Porto.  Very close to Ribeira district and famous Sao Bento station. We got up early and walked to the station and took all the pictures we wanted before the crowds. 😊The apartment was very clean and the bed was comfortable.

Both UNESCO World Heritage-listed monuments, the Jerónimos Monastery and Belém Tower. The skip the line tour is worth it. Otherwise, the line to get in is insane. We went there in Spring and it was not even peak season.

Museo Nacional do Azulejo is a hidden Gem. It is out of the hustle and bustle of central Lisbon.  The admission is cheap and you can download a phone app for an audio tour explaining the permanent collection and the history of the convent where the museum is housed. It is so worth it!

The most famous seafood restaurant in Lisbon and it did not disappoint! We tried the barnacles the first time and it was briny and I thought it would be chewy but the texture was just right. The Portugese stuffed stone crab was delicious. We also ord...

Go there before or after you visit Jerónimos Monastery. Pastéis de Belém (pasteis de nata) were actually invented by monks in the nearby Jerónimos Monastery. Don't be intimidated by the take out line. The best way to get your hand on these scrumptiou... That's what the locals do and it is way less stressful and enjoyable. They also serve sandwiches there.
