Algonquin Park Camping has always been popular with 10 campgrounds for car camping, backcountry sites, group camping, and even some resorts. Staying in the park gives you easy access to the hiking trails, canoeing, museums and exhibits, beaches and more. Keep in mind that during the summer months and early autumn the park fills up quickly so reservations are a must.

Cape Breton is a popular destination for visitors to Atlantic Canada, especially those heading to Newfoundland. There is a lot to see from the famous Cabot Trail road route, Louisbourg Fortress, Cape Breton Highlands National Park,a mining museum and another for Alexander Graham Bell, hiking but the highlight for most is the Celtic music.

The Dordogne Valley is perhaps not as well known as other parts of France but you will find more variety. The prettiest villages in French are located here, 2 castles from the 100 years war, vineyards, walnut trees and amazing French cuisine. You can explore the area with a rental car, quad bike, canoe or go bicycle touring. Into prehistoric history you will find several caves with the art and other exhibits.

If heading to Atlantic Canada be sure to cross the Confederation Bridge to visit Prince Edward Island. Visit the wharfs and historic buildings in Charlottetown, have a lobster supper, hike the trails of Prince Edward National Park, enjoy the red sand beaches, old fishing ports and everyone goes to Green Gables National Historic Site.

The Icefields Parkway has been described as one of the most scenic drives in the world. Suitable for a road trip or bicycle touring it is located between Banff National Park and Jasper National Park in Alberta, Canada.

The Netherlands have always been a popular destination but there are other options besides Amsterdam canal cruises (which I also suggest). Visit the famous tulip gardens of Keukenhof, enjoy cheese in Edam, cruise the canals of car free Giethoorn. Many ways to get around include bicycle and E-Bikes for which the country is famous.

Everybody loves "the Rock" as Newfoundland is affectionately known. The people are so friendly and during your visit you can hike, go whale watching, see puffins, see historic sites and enjoy "Screech", the special drink.

Iceland can be expensive whiie being exciting and this list can assist with your planning an awesome active holiday. including visiting the National Parks, viewing the glaciers or gyers.. How about some hiking along a gorge with 24 waterfalls in the first 8 km. Or for something really different releasing puffins in the Westman Islands.
