California has an enormous number of famous restaurants. My reviews are for the lesser known restaurants in smaller towns. If you're road-tripping through California, these restaurants are worth the stop.
Truckee - We stopped at this restaurant when we stayed at Donner Lake on our ancestral travel trip. Besides delicious food and great customer service, The ambiance captured its own history and that of the town.

Savannah - This is a wonderfully fun family dining experience in the heart of historic Savannah. Reservations are not required, but encouraged due to its popularity.

Wake Forest - The mouth-watering food was as superb as the over the top service. This is cozy upscale dining at its best. Be sure to secure reservations for the weekends.

Beaufort - This restaurant is about a mile before you get to Beaufort. Don't miss it. Their seafood is delicious. The ambiance is fun. The customer service is excellent.
Gilligan's Seafood Restaurant- Beaufort
Charleston - Great lunch or dinner stop when in Charleston, SC. Their seafood is excellent, the service great, and if you are there at the right time of the year, you may see dolphins breaching the water.
Fleet Landing
Charleston - The famous restaurant where countless celebrities have dined. Every table is adorned with brass plaques saying who sat at your place. If you're in Charleston, SC, don't miss this ding experience!
Hyman's Seafood
Columbia - This tea house has became a habitual stop for us when we are in Columbia, SC. The Mediterranean dishes are excellent and the service is fantastic.

Menkoi Ramen House
Sumter - We love the rooftop dining in the evening. Even when the skies opened, our undercover dining was fabulous with the music and ambiance.

Sumter - Our first time eating here, a thunderstorm entertained us while we enjoyed exquisite southern delights. We've eaten on numerous special occasions. It never disapoints. As a matter of fact, we love it more each time!

Sambino's European Bistro
Sumter - They tout, “Southern cuisine with an upscale twist”, and you won't be disappointed. We had alligator bites for an appetizer and grilled salmon with wild rice and a salad. The portions were big enough that we all took leftovers home for the next day. I highly recommend Willie Sue's!

Edinburgh - Fiddlers Arms is a cozy pub at the end of Grassmarket in the shadow of Edinburgh Castle. Their traditional Cullen Skink soup (smoked fish and potato chowder) is now one of my favourite Scottish dishes!
