While there is a lot of information online about hiking in Madeira, I find guidebooks to be invaluable, especially if they are by reputable publishers.
Sunflower publishes really useful guides for many European destinations and this one on Madeira is no exception, and it's also fairly up-to-date, with a 2024 publication date.
