Where To Hike When

Madeira is a small, beautiful Portuguese archipelago that sits closer to the African coast than to mainland Portugal and has stunning hikes throughout its mountainous interior. It is definitely on my bucket list to hike and has been increasing in popularity over the last few years. Check out this list to find out more about hiking in Madeira.

As an avid hiker, there are certain things I always take on the trail with me that are essential for safety and comfort. I'm sharing with you these essentials so that you can also hike safely. Note that I'm not a backpacker so I haven't included things such as tents, stoves, etc.

I discovered it when I visited more than 10 years ago on my honeymoon and I fell in love with the stunning mountain landscapes, crystal-clear waters, and tranquil beaches. My husband and I visited in August 2013, not knowing too much about it and we are astounded by the beauty. I will definitely be going back and exploring more of their amazing trails.

Saba is also known for its medical school for international students.
