I've only recently started getting into the board gaming hobby, so this is part owned/played and part wish list. Also includes some card games, and some games which can be played solo; good for learning the rules and a nice alternative to screen time...
Like an illustrated bird encyclopedia in board game form. Players match birds with their environments, building up their ability to bring in more birds and earn points for the final scoring. Can be played solo, and has expansions for many of the worl...
Wingspan (2nd Edition) by Stonemaier Games
A cooperative trick taking card game, where players work as a team to try and complete a set of randomly drawn objectives. The underwater exploration ‘story’ is superfluous IMO (although the associated illustrations & game mechanics are good); bu...
The Crew: Mission Deep Sea
Gain influence in the Daimo's court by positioning your clan members to gain maximum coins, resources and ultimately clan points. A game with interesting use of cards & dice, and nice artwork evoking feudal Japan. I first played this solo and iro...
The White Castle by Devir
A great party game for two teams. Each nominates a spy master, who gives clues which they hope will connect to word cards laid out in front of both teams. A wrong choice by their teammate can help the opponents, or even worse, reveal the “assassin” f...
Codenames (2025 Edition)
The duel is between two players, as the word implies. Players vie to win across three rounds by competing to pick up cards as they're revealed and released from their formation on the table. These unlock resources and the ability to progress (and win...
7 Wonders Duel
Self promotion intermission 🙂 I don't make games (yet), but I do have an illustration of a Tasmanian Devil laying down a poker royal flush, here on a pack of playing cards. Use “Personalize this template” on the Zazzle product page to change the tex...
Lucky Devil Poker Club Tasmanian Devil Poker Cards
Randomised tiles make the island unique for each play, and players try to expand their territory through trading & building. Quite simple, played a few times with the family, always enjoyed.
Catan (6th Edition) by Klaus Teuber
One on my wishlist because I'm lacking in factional strategy (would like Scythe too but I've already given Stonemaier a shout out). Like Dune & sci-fi, and it has a solo option. I read that Uprising is an improvement on the original.
Dune Imperium Uprising by Paul Dennen
Next on my wishlist. A racing game to add some variety to my collection and to tempt the family members who like their motor racing. 1-6 players, fast paced, a combination of cards/hand management influencing your car on the board. Lots of expansions...
Heat: Pedal To The Metal
Wishlist number 3, and it's back to nature with Cascadia. Highly rated and popular, it has a two dimensional puzzle mechanic as players compete to build their terrain and populate it with wildlife. Would be nice to have a British wildlife version, bu...
Cascadia by Randy Flynn
Possibly the priciest, maybe one of the more complex (?) games on my wishlist. Again highly recommended, and I love a bit of Norse mythology & history. One to four players trade, raid & pillage their way to victory.
A Feast for Odin
Players compete to expand their kingdoms in what is often billed as the classic deck building game. I'd love to give it a go, and it would add a different dimension to my shelf. Not sure about that title font 😄 and no solo option for this one.
