Toxic species of mold are well documented in homes and workplaces worldwide. While not all molds' are considered toxic, all mold byproducts can cause reactions in sensitive individuals who suffer from allergies, asthma, or other respiratory conditions; as well as individuals who have suffered from Mold Toxicity (CIRS) and mast cell activation from previous toxic mold exposure. Studies have reported numbers from 70% all the way up to 100% of homes and buildings tested contained mold whether considered toxic or benign. Mold plays a massive role in our lives and in the health of the environment, they are natural decomposers, recyclers, and have even given us Antibiotic Penicillin, Bleu Cheese, Soy Sauce, Tempeh and more. It is not the mold itself that is harmful within their natural environment, it is the spores and mycotoxins that pollute the air that you breathe within an enclosed space, without natural sunlight, that you spend a large amount of your time in such as your home or workplace. Quite simply, outdoor molds = happy molds decomposing natural materials in their natural environment. And indoor molds = angry molds competing for resources while decomposing unnatural chemical-laden materials like paint and drywall releasing toxic byproducts into the air as a result. Additionally, when a species of mold is competing for resources, it sends out a higher concentration of spores and mycotoxins to spread out and also to kill off other molds or organisms that could be stealing any available resources… it is survival, but for sensitive individuals it could mean tremendous suffering, illness, and disease. Therefore, it is good practice to reduce the instance of mold growing within an enclosed, man-made space, and to reduce the toxic burden on our bodies' to keep ourselves and our families safe and healthy. If you are a mold-sensitive or mold-conscious individual, I invite you to explore this comprehensive list of resources that I have compiled during my near-fatal battle to heal from Toxic Mold, suffering further from a botched remediation, evacuating our home on emergency funds, to trying countless methods and habits to feel better, warning signs for toxic mold exposure, and effective products that I have personally used and vetted. Mold Toxicity is very real, and very dangerous, and it is important that we all have access to resources when our health providers fail us. Be sure to share with anyone who could benefit from these resources.
