As we head into the next 4 years, it's more important than ever to support small businesses and those who align with your personal values. As a freelancer who also works at an indie bookstore and published with an indie publisher who has their OWN indie bookstore, it's really important to me that we continue to champion these neighborhood treasures.

I work part time at an indie kids bookstore, and it's the best job I've ever had! Preordering books is a HUGE way to show support for forthcoming releases, especially if it's a newly emerging author. Preorders show the publisher that there are eager readers excited and waiting for the book. A FREE way to do this is requesting that your local library buy the books that you're interested in. Then, you get to read it without spending your limited funds, AND members of your community can too!

If you've checked out my podcast list, you know I always have something happening in the background. This time of year often has lots of quiet cozy downtime, so here are the YouTube channels that I watch regularly!

I recently went to Halifax for book tour work, it's the second time I've been there! Check out some off the beaten path places that my bestie showed me.

Here are my favorite podcasts! There's quite a roster because I am always listening to something in my headphones when working in my office, because it helps me concentrate. You'll notice that like my book recommendations, a lot of them are nonfiction, because I am inherently more interested in things that are real.

I was absolutely a child who always gravitated to nonfiction over fiction every single time. I just can't concentrate on something that isn't real when there are so many real things that I don't know! ANYWAY, here are some of my favorites from the last few years, including some ones that I used in the classroom.

If there's one silly thing about my appearance that I always say, it's ‘the shorter the hair, the bigger the earrings’! I love elaborate earrings, especially beaded ones. All of the beaded earrings that I own and recommend are made by “inspired Natives, not Native-inspired”. AKA-they're all Indigenous-made and Indigenous-owned brands. As a note-I am not Indigenous and do not bead so I really can't answer any questions.

These are the people that I draw artistic inspiration from, and generally love their aesthetics or way they move through the world.

As the weather gets colder and folks gather for events and meals together, it can get overwhelming! As a neurodivergent human with sensory needs and tools that I use daily, here are my tips for those who are deep in party planning preparations. There are also some articles for more information!

My spouse and I adopted two rescue dogs from Puerto Rico, a breed called satos. They're extremely sweet little peanuts, each about 15 pounds. Here are some of the things that we use on a daily basis!

Here I've collected some of my favorite hobby supplies-different types of art! I can't sit down and focus on something handheld all of the time, which is how I became a pastry chef. Hardly any sitting down in the kitchen! But I love working with my hands to make art, rather than graphic design.

I got the chance to spend a couple of weeks in Seattle in April of 2024, when I had to travel for work. I was actually there to do a photoshoot for my cookbook! Even after long days of cooking for the shoot, I made time to visit as many places as possible!
