Returning to Rome years later with my 2-year-old daughter added an entirely new layer of magic to the trip. Our favorite things to do blended iconic landmarks with the simple joys of childhood: wandering through grand piazzas where she pointed excitedly at pigeons as if they were rare exotic birds, stopping to smile at warm-hearted nonnas who immediately adored her, and discovering vintage carousels that spun with old-world charm. We took our time savoring gelato in Trastevere, strolling by the Colosseum, wandering through museums, and finding quiet corners like the gardens of Villa Borghese. Experiencing Rome again—this time through her wide-eyed wonder—made every familiar sight feel new. Visiting Rome has become a tradition marked by both nostalgia and discovery, a place where big moments and simple joys come together.
