As an Arkansas Native for the last 26 years, I've traveled far and wide across our beautiful natural state. In this list I'll share with you the must see stops for any nature enthusiasts!
A few years ago my family and I embarked on a journey to visit all 63 National Parks and as many National Monuments as possible. We LOVE the National Park Service (NPS) and their sites because they are very well maintained, clean, accessible to people with a range of abilities, they are family friendly and they have bathrooms! Here is a very condensed list of some of our favorite National Parks and Monuments (so far) as well as our favorite hikes, sites, excursions, and more! MY #1 TIP when visiting any National Park is to make a stop at the Visitors Center to talk to a Ranger about things to do in the area and gather information about trail closures, etc.
St. Louis is an amazing spot to vacation. There is so much to do, and it's easy to get around. My two best friends and I took a trip from KC to STL with our kids. We are three teachers in our early 30s and our 5 kids range from 11 months old to 7 years old. The following lists contain exactly what we did and tips and tricks we discovered along the way!

I try to take a trip to the city once or twice every year, and have successfully done that for the past five years. Whenever my friend and I go, we typically don't have a "plan" and just pop in random places to eat or things to do. Sometimes, we'll spend the day out then get a lot of self-care items and order room service/watch a movie :) I try to have something for all the vibes!!
Hocking Hills is a cheaper but extensive set of Midwest hiking trails. The trails are absolutely gorgeous with endless scenery. This was one of my favorite trips to do. If you are not a country or outside person this is not the trip for you. Fortunately/Unfortunately, there isn't much to do in the area beside outside activities. Most places and trails are dog friendly, IF YOUR DOG IS TRAINED!!!

Yogyakarta, together with its twin city Surakarta (Solo), is the cradle of civilization on Java. This city was the seat of power that produced the magnificent temples of Borobudur and Prambanan in the 8th and 9th centuries and the new powerful Mataram kingdom of the 16th and 17th century. Yogyakarta was known with the slogan of “Jogja The Never ending Asia“ for its endless appeals. Today, it is also renowned as “ Jogja Istimewa “, a tagline that elaborates its special values. This city is one of the foremost cultural centers of Indonesia. From strolling through the living museum of The Kraton or The Keraton (Sultan’s Palace), to hanging out at the famous Alun Alun, to watching silversmiths produce amazing jewelry at Kotagede and maybe try a splurge shopping up at Malioboro road.

The bag and the goods we used while doing 6 days at disney. We had a bag for each adult (mom and dad). With these items the bags were never too heavy, and fit what was needed with a bit extra room for some things we may purchase in the parks.

My favorite place to day-trip from the suburbs. About a 2 hour drive from where I am, about 20 minutes outside of Madison. Mount Horeb draws a lot of insperation from the Swedish ancestry of many of the settlers, which you will see when you visit from the Swedish gift store to the trolls around town to the shops all themed after their scandenavian roots.

If you're visiting the Toronto area and you have a couple of extra days, I highly recommend you hop in the car and drive up the 400 (the major highway that runs north of Toronto and is the most direct route to this region). Canadian's refer to this spot as Cottage Country. It's a mixture of estate lake homes, pass down generational cottages, resorts, hotels, and camp sites. This region is peppered with some of the most beautiful lakes and wildlife. It's a must visit if you're in the area! And the best part? It's four seasons! It has something for everyone no matter the time of year. But personally I prefer the summer time visits!
