I have made a lot of emergency runs to unexpectedly support loved ones at the hospital. I often drive over 5 hours to the hospital and leave without much notice. Sometimes the stays are a couple of days, but sometimes they are much longer. Either way, I have these items ready to go at all times. While this is not comprehensive, long-term packing, and more is needed for a longer stay, this is enough to get to the hospital and survive for a couple of days without laundry or additional supplies/clothing.

I love them all, but my absolute favorite places to visit are historic old movie palaces, a handful of which are still in operation as working movie theaters after periods of restoration. Largely built in the silent film era (though built well into 1940s), these movie palaces represent a time when moviegoing first became a “destination” event for Americans (as movies changed from novelties to works of art), embodying a sense of glamour and excess that you just don't find in contemporary movie theaters.
